Give Me Five

Kevin passed this one to me, so I’m returning the favor, with a full page of embellished truths. Enjoy.

Five things you likely don’t or even care to know about me but will read anyway because you don’t have anything better to do:

1. In high school, I was in a Sex Pistols cover band. I still know all the lyrics and could probably play every song from memory on the guitar with a little bit of memory practice. Our first concert was during a school assembly at a school for handicapped children.

2. I’ve always wanted to build a giant dinosaur in my backyard.

3. I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a UFO or that I’ve been abducted by aliens, but maybe that is just because they erased that experience from my memory.

4. I took a 5 week vacation to Italy in 2002, and the thing that I remember most about it was how much I got to sleep. We took our 1 year old baby with us, and whenever she slept, so did I. I think I was averaging 12-16 hours of sleep per day. It was awesome.

5. I really think that I may have been almost kidnapped, tortured, and maybe even murdered in Costa Rica in 1994. On a late afternoon bus trip to the coast from San Jose, we hooked up with the “Machina.” He claimed to be an executive for Chiquita Banana, and offered to show us around the town, and even set us up in the Chiquita Banana Corporate guest house. When we arrived he showed us a room we could stay in, and assured us he would take care of us. That night he arrived to show us the town. Four of us went out with him, and had a great time as he bought us all kinds of food, and took us to every dance club and bar in the town. Late that night he assured us there was “one-last-place” that we must go. Our taxi, directed by the “Machina” took a quick jaunt through the town and then headed in the local mountains through several winding roads and ended up at a strange, shady looking house. The “Machina” got out of the taxi and gave the drive a wad of money to ensure that he would keep us there. It looked as if we had ended up in some sort of bad drug deal. We finally convinced the driver that we would pay him more than the “Machina” if he would get us out of there. That is most of the story, and probably about 90% accurate, except for a few embellishments here and there. The only other aspect really worth mentioning is the look and bewilderment on the faces of the people who found us sleeping on the floor of their house the next morning.

108.1 Eddie Dilworth  added:

I almost got mugged in Mexico years ago. My friend punched him in the gut and we ran. There’s a little more to it than that, but you held out details too.

108.2 KDAY  added:

I know it sort of runs in the family but if you ever need help with the dinosaur, please let me know. I’d love to be a part of that.
