World Cup Typography

There’s just something about World Cup Soccer. I love it. We’ve been slipping away to the local sports club during work for the daily semi-final games. It’s hard to get enough of it. I’m even lucky enough to pick up the local spanish networks who show the games as they are still not popular enough for the US audience to run on network television.

I’ve been noticing the jersey’s this year, and predicting the the the winner will start a trend in jersey design for the next 4 years. So, will it be Puma’s custom font by Dalton Maag on the Italian uniform, or will it be a revival of Bauhaus on the Adidas uniforms of France?

Personally, I’m looking forward to the revival of Bauhaus.

POST GAME UPDATE – After watching the first 20 minutes of the game, I started to switch my alliance and was rooting for the Italians. Then the Zidane headbutt pretty much did it in for me. Totally weird – I can’t believe he did that. I was glad to see the Italians take it today. As for the uniforms and the Bauhaus revival, I’m still for that.

ANOTHER UPDATE – not really related to the post, but I found this clip to be very entertaining, also shedding some light on how we all view things from different perspectives. From The Register
