I spent friday at one of my favorite places in Utah fishing with my dad. Jones Hole Creek is a beautiful area located on the Dinosaur National Monument about 50 miles from Vernal, Utah. The creek is spring fed, crystal clear, and full of fish. The trail is also one of the nicest hikes in the area. A four mile trail winds down a beautiful sandstone canyon next to the creek ending at the Green River.
There’s Dad (Kenneth Dilworth) sporting his bamboo fly rod and one of the first catches of the day. (Please note: no fly-fishing vest, no waders, no trendy gear at all, yet you’d be pressed to find a better fisherman.)
The best part though, is learning fishing tips from my Dad, who lives the sport. He helped fund his college education by teaching fly-fishing classes at BYU, but he’s also just a natural. For him, it isn’t about the equipment, the science, having the right fly, or the right brand of waders, it’s about being outside, enjoying the outdoors with his family, hiking, and then catching fish. We had great time.
