Time for a critique?

I’m working on a final project for this semester’s course work which also happens to be the first in a series for my final Thesis project. The project has been overwhelming, but I’m finally starting to like the direction that it is going. I’d like to know what you think, and get any suggestions that you might have to make it better. Color? Composition? Style? Let me know what you think

For some context to the work, the whole work represents the “Creation of the Universe”. The “knot” represents the cosmic energy which existed before the “Big Bang”. The hand coming down from the top represents the arm and hand of God. The two other figures (spirits) represent other deity & angels who assisted in the creation. The background pattern coming out of scribbles represents the formation of chaos into order.

The image at full resolution is 24” X 30” (300dpi) and was created entirely from hand drawings with Adobe Photoshop.

UPDATE

Thanks to everyone who contributed to feedback (nobody)! I’ve made some small compositional and tonal adjustments which I think are a bit stronger. overall. I’m not totally sold on the darker foreground and background, I may decide to alter this one more time.

This is an incredible piece, John. The darker foreground/background in rev 2 tends to cast a darker feel on what might otherwise be a very enlightening, joyous event, imo. Aside from that, absolutely love it.
