Knotted Initial Caps · February 01, 2007 · 2 comment(s)

This one is based on a set found in Leon Battista Alberti’s Hypnerotomachia Poliphili. I ran across these in Beautiful Evidence, Edward Tufte’s latest book.

As part of my MFA thesis project (The Cosmic Knot) I’m putting together a set of Knotted Initial Caps. I’ve been collecting knot related paraphernalia for some time, and these seemed like they would be a nice addition to the project. The basic knot pattern is the same, with some customizations, and I’ve used the Priory Sans font to match the rest of the styling for my sites.

This one needs a bit of clean up, and might look a bit funny at these large sizes, but please let me know what you think.
